PRITCHARD: ‘ALL IN THE MIND’ DENTIST FACES CAREER VERDICT
A dentist accused of telling a woman with a rotten tooth her severe pain was ‘all in her mind’ faces an anxious wait before he learns his fate.
Andrew Pritchard is also said to have drilled into her teeth without anaesthetising her on two occasions at his practice in St John’s Avenue, Churchdown, Gloucs.
He failed to correctly diagnose which tooth was causing the woman excruciating pain for more than two years from May 2006, the General Dental Council has heard.
A fitness to practice hearing in central London ran out of time and will now resume on August 3.
Pritchard, who is representing himself, denies failing to adequately diagnose or treat the source of the pain and failing to prove anaesthesia.
He admits making an inaccurate diagnosis during a phone call to the woman, but denies he incorrectly prescribed antibiotics.
He further admits practising without dental insurance.
If the charges against him are found proved he could be struck off the dental register.
