MIAH: FATHER RAPED SCHOOLGIRL IN DERELICT BROTHEL
A father who snatched a 13-year-old girl from the street as she walked to school and raped her in a derelict brothel her has been locked up indefinitely.
Angur Miah, 33, beckoned to the ‘innocent’ schoolgirl to talk to him before grabbing her hand and threatening to inject her with a dirty needle if she made a sound.
When she started to scream for her mother, he pulled her into a deserted house used by local prostitutes and began to strangle her before stripping her naked and pouring vodka over her.
He raped her and told the girl he would kill her if she told anyone what had happened.
But he was arrested after the brave victim ran home and told her mother what had happened and police tracked him down later the same day.
Miah, a father of one who has a string of previous convictions for violent offences, was jailed indefinitely for the public protection as Snaresbrook Crown Court after he admitted the horrific attack.
Judge Simon Wilkinson told him he will have to serve a minimum of four years before the parole board can consider whether it is safe to release him.
He said: ‘These were exceptionally grave offences.
‘The victim was a 13-year-old child. She had the natural innocence of her age. She was on her way to school.
‘She received extensive physical injury. The psychological scars run much deeper.
‘I consider that neither the imposition of a determinate sentence nor an extended sentence would adequately protect the public.’
The ponytailed defendant, who had a black eye and extensive bruising to his face when he appeared in the dock, showed no reaction as the sentence was passed.
John Causer, prosecuting, told the court that Miah attacked his victim shortly before 8.30am on the morning of May 26 this year.
As she walked to school down Parnell Road in Bow, East London, he gestured to her and the victim, who had seen him in the area previously, crossed the road to talk to him.
As she reached him, he grabbed her hand and told her ‘don’t say a word or I will inject a needle into you.’
Miah pulled the schoolgirl into a ‘derelict’ flat ‘used by local prostitutes’.
She screamed for help, but he put his hands around her neck and started to strangle her, told her she had been ‘driving him crazy’ and slapped her.
He then took her clothes off as she wept, poured vodka over her and subjected her to a series of sexual assaults before he raped her.
Miah said if she told anyone what had happened, he would distribute naked photographs of her and added he would ‘come and kill her.’
When she tried to call 999, he took her mobile phone away and smashed it on the floor.
Miah eventually let the victim go, and she went straight back to her parents’ house, where she asked her father to leave the room and told her mother what had happened.
Her father called the police, and officers began searching for the defendant, who was well known as a prolific offender.
Shorlty afterwards a policeman on bicycle patrol saw Miah cycling down the road. He told him to stop but the suspect pedalled off at speed.
He was eventually cornered when an officer on horseback blocked his path.
George Gross, defending Miah, said: ‘He feels terrible about what has happened to the young girl concerned.’
He said that he was determined to turn his life around and stop committing crimes, and that he regarded this offence as a ‘watershed in his life.’
The court heard that Miah, who was born in Bangladesh, has a severe drugs problem, and tested positive for opiates following his arrest.
He has previous convictions for offences including wounding, possessing a bladed article, robbery and assault occasioning ABH, as well as dishonesty and drug offences.
Miah, of (4) Locton Green, Rushton Street, Bow, admitted assault by penetration, sexual assault and rape.
