Trial for terror suspect caught with pro-ISIS magazine
A terror suspect who was allegedly caught with a video guide on how to blow up prisoners with homemade explosives will stand trial in July.
Lee Griffiths, 26, also had copies of the ISIS magazine Rumiyah and the Anarchist’s Cookbook when was arrested at his home in Swansea last month.
He is charged with five charges of possessing information likely to be useful to someone preparing an act of terrorism.
Griffiths appeared at the Old Bailey by video link for a preliminary hearing and did not enter any pleas to the indictment.
The judge, Mr Justice Holroyde, set a trial date of 24 July this year but said the judge and venue for the case had not yet been decided.
Griffiths is likely to return to court for a plea and case management hearing on a date to be fixed in late May or early June.
It is claimed Griffiths had an instructional 29 minute video which demonstrated how to carry out knife attacks and assemble explosives on ‘prisoners’.
He also allegedly had two copies of pro-ISIS magazine Rumiyah giving advice on how to carry out terrorist attacks.
It is also claimed an entry in his mobile’s contact book entitled ‘Z’ was a link to a ‘111-page bomb-making document with 40 different sections in relation to 40 different devices that can be made.’
Griffiths, of Western Road, Clydach, Swansea, was remanded in custody.
