Death at the drinks party

A decorator was beaten to death by his friend who then tried to blame the victim’s heavy drinking, a court heard. Daniel Cummings, 38, bludgeoned 57-year-old Carl Whitehead in Sheldon House, Teddington, southwest London, on 17 November last year. The two had met up for a drinking session in the flat with a group of friends but neighbours became concerned after hearing loud bangs and called the emergency services.
