Jail for romance robber
A teenage romance fraudster pulled a knife on an older man after meeting him online.
Ashley Jackson, 19, went out with the man in his 40s in Hackney on 11 November 2022 and they spent time together before Jackson produced the knife from his sleeve and demanded money.
He took £180 in cash before calling a taxi and leaving. He was arrested on 15 November.
He was sentenced today at Snaresbrook Crown Court to three years and 10 months imprisonment for robbery and possession of a knife.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Alex O’Sullivan said: ‘The effects of becoming a victim of robbery, particularly where there is threat of violence, run far deeper than a loss of cash or property – they can be traumatic and long-lasting.
‘Jackson has now been removed from the community, where he can no longer victimise the public.
‘I sincerely hope this brings the victim the sense that justice has been served.’
Jackson, of Barbauld Road, Stoke Newington, admitted the offences on 15 December.
He was sentenced to three years and four months in jail.
