Prisoner denies trying to murder jail’s imam

A serving prisoner has denied trying to murder the jail’s imam. Moroccan Ahmed Ali Alid, 47, tried to kill Roderic Vassie at HMP Full Sutton in Yorkshire on 8 August last year, it is claimed. He denied attempted murder, unauthorised possession of a knife in prison and assaulting prison officer, Sarah Mitchell, on 21 October at HMP Wakefield.
