A pub stripper was carried outt and gang raped while her audience
roared with laughter, thinking it was all part of her ‘erotic’ act,
the Old Bailey heard.

The 25-year-old victim was first attacked by barman Thomas Kennedy
in the ladies loo after strutting her stuff in the City of Rome pub
in Camden, it was alleged.

As she recovered from that, Kennedy, 32, and another man came
down and raped her again before taking her upstairs for a third
sex attack, the jury was told.

Tragically, her screams as she was taken upstairs in a fireman’s
lift fell on deaf ears.

Kennedy, of Liverpool Road, Islington, denies rape and
indecent assault.

Miss Sally Howes, prosecuting, said the stripper arrived at
the pub on October 18, 1991, and accepted a few drinks ‘on the
house’ from Kennedy.

Unknown to her, he secretly gave her doubles.

The alcohol
mixed badly with the medicine she was taking at the time, the
court heard.

‘Her three acts were of varying degrees of eroticism, starting
with a partial strip and ending with a full strip and rubbing herself
with baby oil.

‘She invited members of the public to rub her with baby oil
on her shoulders.

‘
By that point the drink began to have an effect and she began
to feel ‘decidedly unwell’ counsel said.

After the last act, she went down to the ladies to change,
only to have Kennedy follow her in, it was alleged.

‘He forced himself on her.

She was still undressed and he
raped her.

‘Kennedy then left her in a considerable state of shock.

‘She was beginning to compose herself and pull herself
together when Kennedy came back in with another man.

She was
forced into one of the cubicles and raped again.

Afterwards, she managed to get dressed when the second man,
not before the court and referred to as ‘the big man,’ fire-lifted
her onto his shoulder and took her to a storeroom upstairs, counsel
said.

‘Everyone in the bar thought this was a great joke and laughed,
thinking she was taking part even though she was kicking and
screaming and trying to get away.

‘Everyone thought it was very amusing and she could not
release herself.

‘
Upstairs, Kennedy and a third man held her down while the
second man raped her, it was alleged.

When Kennedy complained that he had got nothing from it, she
was forced to perform a sex act on him, counsel said.

Kennedy’s brother Patrick, described in court as the ‘acting
landlord’ of the pub, then came upstairs with her bag.

The money she had earned that day was missing and instead he
offered her pnds stlng 50 and called a taxi.

‘He said there was a misunderstanding and his brother and the
others were ”good lads really.

”
‘He was trying to buy her silence,’ alleged Miss Howes.

The stripper was so sure that nobody would believe her story
that she maintained her silence for another five months before
going to the police.

Giving evidence Miss X told the court how drinkers in
the crowded pub laughed as she was carried off by an alleged
rapist.

She said: ‘Everyone seemed to treat it like it was just
a big joke.

There were lots of people laughing.

He just walked
off with me in this fireman’s lift.

‘People were still laughing.

‘
Miss X said she was picked up by ‘the big man’ as she
tried to escape from the pub.

She told the court: ‘He bent down, grabbed hold of my
legs, and threw me over his shoulders in a fireman’s lift.

The
bar area was crowded.

He started swinging me around over his
shoulders.

I was pushing off his back, trying to straighten up,
trying to kick with my feet and shouting for him to put me down.

The court heard he carried her through a door, up some
stairs, and into a room where, it is alleged he raped her twice
whils two other men held her down.

The stripper claimed she had already been raped twice by
barman Thomas Kennedy, 32.

The first time was in the toilet, when she was getting
changed, and he was alone.

When she was recovering from that ordeal, the court
heard, Kennedy returned with the big man.

The woman said she was pushed into a toilet cubicle and
the two men shut and locked the door.

She said the barman tried to have sex with her after she
had been pushed onto the toilet seat.

The big man, who seemed to be giving the orders,
She said she was held by the hair and raped by one or other
of the two men.

The big man was watching and laughing as she was being
raped, the court heard.

He said: ‘Girls like you love it,’ Miss X continued.

Asked how she felt the stripper said: ‘I was shocked and
numb.

I felt very peculiar, dizzy, confused, and disorientated.

‘
She said that after the second rape she saw the barman
doing up his trousers.

‘He looked flushed and sweaty,’ the woman added.

The stripper had performed three acts that day, beginning
at 5pm.
