A south London man today (TUES) admitted escaping

A south London man today (TUES) admitted escaping from custody after being picked up for a driving offence.

Karl Whall, 20, was arrested on December 12 last year for allegedly driving whilst disqualified.

He fled from custody shortly afterwards, but was later re-arrested.

Whall today admitted escape at the Old Bailey, but did not enter a plea on the driving charge.

The court heard that Whall, of Copleston Road, Peckham, believed his road ban had ended on November 30.

The hearing was adjourned for two weeks so that details of his disqualification and medical history could be checked.
