An Old Bailey judge launched an astonishing attack

An Old Bailey judge launched an astonishing attack against two gang rapists who he called ‘disgusting and despicable’ as he jailed them for a total of 27 years.

Judge Brian Duckworth told Quadir, 21, and Iqbal, 18, after they were convicted of the sickening ‘gangbanged’ of a Spanish tourist:

‘You are disgusting, you are despicable, you are degenerate, just as you are depraved.

‘You exposed this unfortunate young lady to the most appalling experience – a violent and humiliating gangbanging.

‘She was a young woman alone, a stranger in a foreign country.

Physically small and defenceless she was snatched off the pavement near her own home and bundled unceremoniously at what she thought was knifepoint into a strange car.

‘She was overpowered by all three of you – you carted her off to a bank and took all her money.

‘You took her off to a strange house and in that alien atmosphere was was repeatedly ravaged – repeated nauseating stinking sex.

Judge Duckworth told Iqbal and Quadir they took it in turns to rape her ‘and after that you took her out and then chucked her out.

‘What an appalling story, what a disgraceful and disgusting way to behave.

‘And you contested the case in the face of very strong evidence.

‘

The judge said Iqbal and Quadir contested the case in a way that cast a ‘slur on that woman implying that she behaved like a sex-starved nymphomaniac.

‘Let me make plain that is not the story.

She was a chaste, respectable decent young lady who at your hands suffered this dreadful ordeal.

‘She has had to come back to Spain, hide behind that screen and relive that experience.

The judge said nobody could imagine how she has felt since the ordeal.

She had to give up a job and had suffered post traumatic stress, Judge Duckworth added.

Judge Duckworth said the 16-year-old attacked in the street by Quadir at gunpoint has suffered sleepless nights and has to see a psychotherapist.

The judge jailed Quadir for a total of 15 years, Iqbal for 12 years and a third man who acted as a guard during the attacks, 19-year-old Ahmed Moalin, to four years detention.
