Choke hold cop risked ‘another George Floyd’ incident

A judge told a police officer he was ‘thinking back to George Floyd in America’ and told him to expect immediate jail for restraining a patient with a choke hold. PC Rajan Solanki, 28, was trying to put Shane Cogan in handcuffs when the suspect began struggling, Westminster magistrates court heard. The officer warned he would ‘choke out’ Cogan before the suspect was restrained. District Judge Michael Snow told Solanki: ‘We have to think back to George Floyd in America….
