Craig David stalker ‘too ill to travel 15 milles’
The obsessed fan who has been following Craig David around for years has had a court hearing moved to spare her a 15 mile journey from her home.
Tanya Jeal, 31, stood motionless at one of the singer’s shows holding his photograph.
She is currently under criminal investigation for turning up at the hitmaker’s address unannounced last month and buzzing the intercom system repeatedly while holding up the same photo.
After leaving she then went back a second time later that day to again call the intercom system repeatedly, it is said.
Mr David also claims Jeal has sent abusive messages to his management team and published comments on social media ‘as she believes he is under a similar control to that of Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse.’
Jeal lives in Bromley, Kent and claims she suffers from an unspecfied illness which makes it difficult to take the hour long train journey to Highbury Magistrates Court.
She managed to get to the court today (thurs) to hear the judge’s decision on her application to transfer the case to Bromley.
District Judge Denis Brennan said: ‘This is a case management hearing and the primary reason for the listing today is to deal with your application for the transfer of this case from this court to Bromley Magistrates’ Court.
‘[The Metropolitan Police] do not oppose your application for a transfer.
‘I note the reason why…is because of your ill health, it is because of your inability to get yourself from where you live to this court at Highbury but you would be able to get to your local court.
‘Therefore a transfer would be in the interests of justice.
‘In those circumstances I will agree to a transfer.’
The judge left the interim stalking protection order in place until Jeal’s final hearing at Bromley Magistrates on 4 May.
In a previous hearing, Jeal was banned from contacting the star, 40, on social media and coming within 200m of any address where he may be living or visiting.
Jeal is contesting the order.
Robert Kain, for Jeal, said previously that she wanted to cross examine the witness herself.
Flora Curtis, representing the Met Police, had said that Mr David would be ‘stressed’ and would find it ‘emotionally difficult’ to be in the same room as Jeal and to be questioned by her.
The order details Mr David’s complaint that the ‘harassment/stalking began in 2016 when he became aware of a fan who was obsessed and infatuated with him.’
He states Jeal would refer to him as her boyfriend on social media and she would stay at the same hotel as him waiting for him to leave and arrive daily.
The star claims ‘Jeal would use false pretences and go through fire exits to get to his hotel room, where she would repeatedly knock on his door with no invite or consent to do so by him.’
He also claims she posted a note under his door saying ‘I HOPE BUDDA DEALS WITH LIES LIKE YOU, BUDDA WILL TAKE THIS FROM HERE, YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE, FROM TANYA, YOUR MOTHERF—–G GIRLFRIEND’.
Mr David further states in the order that Jeal posted on snapchat: ‘I KNOW YOU LOVE ME.’
Jeal wrote her first book ‘Trophy Hunting, It’s a Killing Business’ in 2017.
Earlier this year she went missing in India for five months and was later found to be staying with a family in Kolkata with her dog.
David’s debut album, Born to Do It, which featured hits including 7 Days and Fill Me In, topped the charts in 2000 and sold 7m copies around the world.
Last month the singer was appointed an MBE by the Prince Of Wales at Windsor Castle in recognition of his services to music.
