Dozy shoplifter’s brilliant ruse to avoid police questions: pretend to be asleep

A dozy shoplifter hit on a brilliant ruse to dodge responsibility for his latest spate of stealing – he   pretended he was asleep when police tried to question him. Karl Allsopp, 36, initially refused to leave his cell after officers arrested him for 16 thefts. Then he appeared to drift off as they fired questions at him. Allsopp has been plaguing the town of Newark for years and between 11 August and 16 November he hit four different shops repeatedly….
