FOLEY:TRIAL FOR POLICEMAN’S SISTER ACCUSED OF LOOTING TV DURING RIOTS

A policewoman’s sister was today (thurs) ordered to stand trial for looting a television during the riots.

Laura Foley, 22, is accused of stealing the flat-screen TV from Argos in Croydon on August 8.

Her sister Lisa, 28, is an officer with the Metropolitan Police and their mother Michelle is a 999 call operator.

Foley denied burglary at Inner London Crown Court and Judge Peter Grobel set her trial to take place during the fortnight beginning November 21.

He allowed her bail as before, on condition of residence at her father Daniel’s pub, the White Horse on Selhurst Road, South Norwood.

Foley, of no fixed abode, must observe a curfew from 9pm to 7am.

She was arrested in connection with widespread looting, violence and destruction which saw the Reeves furniture store burned down.

As a Met police officer it is likely Lisa Foley, of Maidstone, Kent, would have been on duty the night her younger sister allegedly joined the riots.

Her mother, who has two other daughters and is separated from her husband, lives in Croydon.
