Former head of Iraqi bank faces extradition

  The former head of Iraq’s largest state-owned bank appeared in court today (FRI) to fight his extradition over alleged financial irregularities. Hussein al-Azri, 53, is wanted by the Iraqi government for ‘poor administration’ while chief executive of the Trade Bank of Iraq (TBI) between 2003 and 2011. The Iraqi government issued an arrest warrant for al-Azri following an enquiry issued by then prime minister and current vice president of Iraq Nouri al-Malik.
