A backlog of cases caused by the Covid-19 pandemic could delay a former Tory MP’s sex assault trial for ‘months and months and months’, a court heard. Charlie Elphicke, 49, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2007 and two assaults on a different woman in 2016.
