Four men accused of Bullring terror plot to face February trial

Stoke

Four men accused of preparing to carry out a terror attack on the Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham will stand trial in February.

Naweed Ali, 28, and Khobaib Hussain, 24, Mohibur Rahman, 31, and Tahrir Aziz, 37, are said to have referred to themselves as ‘The three musketeers’.

They were arrested by West Midlands Counter Terrorism officers on 26 August, and allegedly had a cache of documents to help them preparing a terrorist attack.

That same day, an area near the Bullring Shopping Centre was attended by bomb disposal experts.

All four were charged on 8 September with engaging in conduct in preparation for committing acts of terrorism.

The four appeared at the Old Bailey today (mon) via video link dressed in grey prison tracksuits.

Mr Justice Saunders remanded them in custody ahead of an eight to 10 week trial on 27 February.

Ali and Hussain, both of Evelyn Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, Rahman, of High Lane, and Aziz, of Walstan Road, both in Stoke-on-Trent, are due back in court on 19 December to formally enter their pleas.
