A hotel migrant caught with a kitchen knife and a metal pole outside a bookies is facing jail.

Sudanese national Mohammed Fadalmowla, 21, was arrested after a confrontation outside Paddy Power on Church Street in Croydon, south London, on June 11.

Fadalmowla, who has been living at the three star Croydon Court Hotel, admitted possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a knife in public.

According to the charges, Fadalmowla was caught with a ‘kitchen knife in a make-shift sheath’ and a ‘large black metal pole’.

Adiatu Bun-Tejan, defending, asked for a pre-sentence report to ‘ascertain what happened.’

She said: ‘When I last saw him, he was in hospital, and he sees the mental health team at his hotel twice a day. That is the level of his vulnerabilities.

‘He has just been discharged from a section.’

Fadalmowla appeared in the dock assisted by an Arabic interpreter.

Magistrate Chris Wheeler bailed the defendant ahead of sentence back at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on 22 December and warned him custody was possible.
