Jail for bent Labour politician

A Labour politician who made false statements in candidate nomination papers has been jailed. Chaudhary Mohammed Iqbal, 51, gave a false address when applying to be a councillor and later lied to the police. Iqbal lived in Barking, Essex, but pretended to live at a rental property in Ilford in order to run as a Redbridge councillor in the 2018 local elections.
