Kevin Spacey denies seven more offences
Oscar winning actor Kevin Spacey has denied seven more sexual offences dating back 21 years.
The 63-year-old American Beauty star faces allegations of three indecent assaults and four sexual assaults between 2001 and 2004.
According to the indictment, Spacey carried out offences involving grabbing, squeezing, and touching of the victim’s genitals and buttocks over clothing.
Spacey faces allegations of sexual assault against three other victims – but these latest offences are said to have been carried out on the same person.
Wearing a light blue shirt, pink tie, and dark suit Spacey gave his full name as Kevin Spacey Fowler when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court this morning via video-link from an unknown location.
Bespectacled Spacey remained emotionless the entire hearing.
Spacey, a two-time Oscar winner starred in Glengarry Glen Ross, Seven, LA Confidential and Baby Driver. He also had the lead role in the Netflix series House of Cards.
In July last year he became the first Hollywood star to appear at the Old Bailey, facing four other charges of sexual assault and one charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.
These charges are said to have been carried out against three men during the time Spacey was artistic director of London’s Old Vic theatre.
Three of the new charges relate to indecent assault, all on the same victim, on dates unknown between 1 January 2001 and 30 April.
Another three of the charges relate to sexual assault, all on the same victim, on dates unknown between 1 May 2004 and 24 June 2005.
And one of the charges relates to causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent on a date between 1 May 2004 and 24 June 2005.
Spacey, appearing via video link, denied all seven charges.
Earlier defence barrister Patrick Gibbs, KC had said Spacey ‘strenuously denies any and all criminality in this case’ while the actor has vowed to ‘establish his innocence’.
Spacey’s trial date for the first five sex attacks and the additional seven has been set for 6 June 2023, to be heard at either Southwark Crown Court or the Old Bailey.
Judge Justice Mark Wall told the actor: ‘Mr Fowler, that concludes the hearing for today. You are on bail, you know your responsibilities.’
Spacey replied: ‘Thank you, your honour.’
He was granted unconditional bail ahead of his next court appearance at Southwark Crown Court on 5 April for a pre-trial review, it is unknown whether he will attend in person or via video link.
