Motorist accused of killing pedestrian by careless driving
A motorist accused of killing a man on a pedestrian crossing denied causing death by careless driving.
John Wilson, 38, struck 55-year-old Tarsem Randhawa on Great West Road A4, Isleworth, west London, on 28 April last year.
Wilson appeared at the Old Bailey wearing a dark grey suit and pleaded not guilty to death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
Prosecutor Will Martin said: ‘Mr Wilson faces a single count on the indictment in relation to causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.’
‘This relates to an incident on 28 April 2021 when the black Ford Mondeo struck a pedestrian, Mr Tarsem Randhawa, as he was crossing a pedestrian crossing.’
Family members of the victim attended in the well of the court and stared at Wilson in the dock.
The driver was granted unconditional bail ahead of his five-day trial fixed for 16 January next year.
Wilson, of Carville Crescent, Brentford, west London, denies causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.
