The son of Olympic hero sprinter Linford Christie appeared in court today (tues) accused of dealing nearly £1,500 worth of crack cocaine and heroin.

Liam Linford Oliver-Christie, 29, faces two charges of possessing cocaine and also diamorphine with intent to supply on 9 September 2014.

Police and a drugs sniffer dog uncovered the haul and ‘drugs paraphernalia’ during the 2.30pm raid on his council flat in Kensington, west London.

In total, 14.1g of crack cocaine of 20-40 per cent purity, 841mg of heroin of 40-60 per cent proof and 6.9g of diamorphone of 35 – 55 per cent purity, were allegedly found.

Oliver-Christie – who spoke only to give his name, date of birth and address in the dock – appeared in the dock at Isleworth Crown Court today (tues).

Judge Richard McGregor-Johnson granted him bail ahead of a plea and case management hearing  on April 21 and fixed his two day trial to start on September 1.

Oliver-Christie’s Olympic gold-medal winning father did not attend the hearing at Isleworth Crown Court.

The sprinter was the toast of British athletics for a decade after sprinting to victory at the Barcelona Games in 1992 and later glory at the World, Commonwealth and European 100m.

But his glittering career hit the rocks in 1999,  when he tested positive for the banned steroid nandrolone and was banned by the International Association of Athletics Federations.

Christie Snr has always having denied taking performance-enhancing drugs and was cleared by UK Athletics.
