Psychiatric treatment for accused ‘Mother in the bath’ killer

A man accused of murdering his 85-year-old mother is undergoing psychiatric treatment after her body was found in the bath. Mark Herman, 54, allegedly killed Loretta Herman at the bungalow they shared in Rushden Gardens, Ilford on April 9. A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of her death as compression to the neck. Herman did not appear at the Old Bailey and his currently at the John Howard Centre in Homerton, east London.
