Smugglers abandoned ship – and £39m of contraband

Two drug smuggers who tried to swim away from boat containing £39 million of cocaine are facing years behind bars. Bruce Knowles, 55, and Ferhat Gumrukguoglu, 31, had 350kg on board the rigid hulled inflatable boat when it was intercepted near East Benacre Broads in Suffolk.
