Sorry, can’t come to court. Dad’s taken all poorly
A Romanian couple accused of swiping a £20,000 Chanel dress from its store in Chelsea have gone home.
Erdal Iasar, 29, and Ruxandra-Maria Blidaru, 19, allegedly stole the frock, worth £20,100 from the shop in Sloane Street on 7 April this year.
The pair failed to turn up at Hammersmith Magistrates’ court today (thur).
Jodie Mole, defending Iasar, said he has gone back to Romania because his father is ill.
‘His father has taken a fall and is in hospital – Mr Iasar’s mother contacted him to tell him.
‘He will be back at the weekend and is a man of good character.’
District Judge Susan Holham issued a warrant for the arrest of Blidaru and ordered Iasar to present evidence of his absence back at Hammersmith Magistrates’ Court on 23 May.
Iasar, of Cathedral Street, Norfolk, and Blidaru, of Stirling Road, Walthamstow, are both charged with theft.
