A teenage virgin was carried to a secluded wood and
raped, an Old Bailey jury was told.

Rifat Mehmet, 27, slung the slight 15-year-old girl
across his shoulder in a ‘firemans lift’ and carried her more
than 200-yards to an isolated spot, it was alleged.

But her screams for help were heard by a passerby, who
managed to drag Mehmet off the young girl in the middle of the
attack, the court was told.

The teenager, from Dagenham, sobbed as she recalled her
terrifying ordeal on April 17 this year.

The jury was told Miss X was pulled into a car as she
was on her way to meet a friend and boyfriend.

She said she recognised Mehmet and her friend in the
vehicle.

Prosecutor Miss Miranda Moore said they drove to a pub
in Hainult, Essex where Mehmet got out and returned with some
drinks.

‘But the teenager refused a drink.

The defendant pulled
her out of the car and picked her up in a fireman’s lift.

‘He walked across the road to an area of bushes in
Hainult Park,’ said counsel.

Mehmet allegedly threw the girl on the ground, and
said: ‘Well I have got you this far.

‘She did not like this and started to kick up a fuss,
screaming and shouting,’ said counsel.

Miss X claimed Mehmet forced her hands above her head
and slapped her across the face when she screamed in protest.

He, then it is alleged, raped her.

The jury was told passerby James Hales, who had been
walking his dog, came running after hearing the commotion.

‘As he got closer he could hear her screaming and could
see that the girl lying under the defendant was extremely
distressed,’ continued counsel.

‘Mr Hales took the view that she was not consenting
and pulled Mehmet off her.

‘
And as he turned to walk away Mehmet told the sobbing
girl ‘come on let’s forget about it.

‘
The court was told Mr Hales took the young girl home
and police were called in.

The teenager was said to be in a ‘extremely distressed
state’ and had bruises on her body and a cut lip.

Counsel told the jury: ‘The young girl was a virgin
before this rape.

‘
Mehmet, of Robinson Road, Dagenham, was arrested in
the early hours of the next morning.

He denies one count of
rape and an alternative charge of indecent assault.
