A sixth-former who tried to homosexually rape a
seven-year-old boy as a ‘sexual experiment’ was revealed
by a ‘whistleblowing’ four-year-old, the Old Bailey heard
today (wed).

The 16-year-old, from Tandridge County, who cannot be
named for legal reasons, was a trusted friend of his victims
family.

He often played with the family’s three children who
were all under 10-years of age and was particularly close to the
seven-year-old boy.

One day in March this year, he took the youngest child,
a four-year-old girl, into his bedroom.

Exposing himself, he invited her to touch him.

Prosecutor Martin Evans said ‘She refused to do so.

‘
Adding: ‘She was so distressed by what had happened, she
ran back to the house and told her mother.

‘
The child’s mother immediately telephoned police who
interviewed the girl, her brother and nine-year-old sister.

The eldest girl was so upset she was totally incoherent
and it was only afterwards police discovered the teenager had
indecently assaulted her.

‘They were playing a tickling game,’ Mr Evans said.

‘The defendant put his hands down into the girl’s knickers
and tickled her in her pubic area.

‘
The 16-year-old had also exposed himself to her.

However, the most ‘outrageous’ acts of indecency were against
the seven-year-old boy, the court heard.

Apart from exposing himself, he masturbated in front of the
child and subjected him to a number of indecent acts including
attempted an unnatural act.

‘On his own admission, he said to the children it should
be their secret and they shouldn’t say anything about what had
happened to anyone else,’ said Mr Evans.

‘The youngest girl really was the whistleblower.

‘
When arrested, the teenager fully admitted his guilt to
police.

The court heard how the sixth former had been through a
traumatic period when his parents divorced and that contributed
to the ‘disturbing’ events.

Miss Elizabeth Marsh defending said: ‘This may be viewed
as an exploration of sexual feelings and conduct, the gravity of
which he did not appreciate.

‘He accepts he should be punished and he is truly apologetic
about what he did to these children and the troubles he has caused.

‘
Judge Bruce Laughland QC sentenced the teenager to supervision
for two years.

He will also participate in a community programme for two
months.

Judge Laughland said: ‘It would be inappropriate for me to
humiliate you publically by giving you a lecture.

‘But nevertheless what you did must have been very damaging
and disturbing to the children and I think that their parents must
feel absolutely outraged by what happened.

‘
He continued: ‘You should realise that in the satisfaction
of your own desires, you can cause great harm and lasting harm to
other people.

‘There’s no benefit to be gained and a great deal of damage
to be caused by the imposition of a custodial sentence in this very
unusual case.

‘
The teenager pleaded guilty to five charges of indecent
assault, attempting an unnatural act (buggery) and indecency with
a child.
