Docto Who actor Noel Clarke denies assaulting five women
Former Doctor Who star Noel Clarke today has denied a string of assaults against five women.
The BAFTA-winning actor, 50, is accused of carrying out the offences between 2007 and 2016.
He was charged with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure after a police probe in September 2025.
Clarke, who directed Kidulthood, Adulthood and Brotherhood, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court wearing a dark suit.
Charlotte Newell, KC, prosecuting, said Clarke was ‘in a position of power and trust’ at the time of the allegations.
Gul Nawaz Hussain KC, defending, asked for Clarke’s address not be read out in open court but the Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring refused the application.
Clarke then muttered his full address, in Earl’s Court, west London, to the court.
Mr Goldspring said: ‘I didn’t hear that so I doubt anyone else did, you need to say that again.’
Clarke pulled a face, waited a few seconds and read out his address again.
The actor indicated not guilty pleas to each charge.
Mr Goldspring told Clarke: ‘You have pleaded not guilty to each of these charges. If you are convicted the sentence is likely to be in excess of the power of this court. I am allocating the case to the crown court. You must attend Southwark Crown Court on the 18 November.
‘The conditions of your bail are not to contact directly or indirectly the complainantss, to notify the police 48 hours before you intend to travel internationally. To live and sleep at either of the recorded addresses.
‘If you breach those conditions you will be arrested and could potentially find yourself remanded in custody. If you fail to attend court you potentially commit an offence of failure to surrender.’
Clarke is accused of two sexual assaults – one in Ladbroke Grove on 20 November 2007 and one in Bournemouth between 12 and 13 March 2016.
The three voyeurism charges date between 1 March 2011 and 28 February 2013 and allege Clarke ‘recorded another person doing a private act with the intention that you would, for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, look at an image of that other person doing the act, knowing that the other person did not consent to your recording the act’.
Clarke is also accused of exposure by intentionally exposing his genitals in Ladbroke Grove on 20 November 2007.
Bethan David, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London earlier said: ‘The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Noel Clarke with two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure.
‘This follows allegations made by five women in connection to sexual misconduct that took place between 2007 and 2016.
‘Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so.
‘We have worked closely with the Metropolitan Police as they have carried out their investigation into the allegations.’
Clarke faces three counts of voyeurism, two counts of sexual assault and one of exposure.
