A convicted wife killer received a life sentence t

A convicted wife killer received a life sentence today (THURS) for a frenzied knife attack on his girlfriend that blew up out of a household row.

Carl Davis, 45, had a stormy relationship with his girlfriend Susan Ferguson, who he met after being released for the manslaughter of his first wife, the Old Bailey heard.

When Ferguson told Davis to get out of her house he took a kitchen knife and plunged it repeatedly in her chest while her teenage daughter looked on.

‘You went in the kitchen and picked up a knife and stabbed her four times, one of which caused a collapsed lung,’ said Judge David Stokes at the Old Bailey,’ She was hospitalised for 11 days.

‘The jury was satisfied that you wanted to cause her serious injury.

She was completely defenceless in her own home and her teenage daughter was also present.

This is very serious.

‘You are a highly dangerous man, especially where women are concerned.

You have a dreadful record.

‘In particular you were convicted of manslaughter when you stabbed your wife to death,’ the judge said.

‘Owing to your previous convictions you are liable to life imprisonment,’ the judge said.

The judge said Davis had shown no genuine remorse for the manslaughter of his wife in 1990.

In mitigation, the court heard that Davis’s father had recently died.

He had also become recently baptised as a Roman Catholic while in jail, where warders spoke of him as a good influence on other prisoners.

Davis, of (23) Perkins House, Wallwood Street, Bow, was found guilty of wounding with intent to cause serious injury on April 23 last year.
