A Greenwich window cleaner was jailed for a year today (Weds) for savagely beating a woman friend.
Bully Nathan Brown, 29, battered the 28-year-old’s head against the floor after a violent row, the Old Bailey heard.
The savage attack left her bloodied and bruised.
Passing sentence, Judge Stephen Robbins described the incident as a ‘vicious assault’.
Brown denied indecent assault and false imprisonment – charges which were left on file.
The judge added: ‘With the more serious matters of false imprisonment and indecent assault you would be facing a sentence of many years.
‘But this was serious enough to warrant immediate custody.
‘
The court heard the couple had previously had a relationship and were drinking at the Mitre public house, Woolwich, south east London on May 12 this year.
They then went to to the woman’s flat where the row flared.
‘An argument developed and Brown’s mood changed from being apologetic to aggressive,’ said Lisa Matthews, prosecuting.
‘A struggle ensued and the defendant pulled her hair before pushing the back of her head and striking her to the ground.
‘She suffered bruising, swelling and abrasions.
‘
When quizzed over the attack, Brown agreed there was a struggle but claimed he was injured too.
Brown, of [22] Morden Road, Greenwich, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Judge Robbins added: ‘You have been well advised to offer a guilty plea.
You had the courage to plead thereby saving your ex-girlfriend from giving evidence in this court and the public’s time and money.
