A shopkeeper burst in on a customer as she stripped off in a changing room and squeezed her breasts, a court heard.

Ali Zamani-Rad, 37, rubbed his groin against the shopper’s bottom while offering her a big discount on her new outfit, it was alleged.

The 28-year-old was the only customer in the store when she selected a pair of trousers and top from the rails and went to try them on in the basement changing rooms.

But after she removed her top the Iranian sales assistant whipped back the curtain, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

Alex Agbamu, prosecuting, said: ‘He asked if he was too close to her.

She said no and told him to close the curtain.

‘She was in a state of partial undress, wearing only trousers and a bra and felt very embarrassed.

‘A few minutes later she was still in the changing room and had the top and trousers on she was thinking of buying when he began to adjust them.

‘She told him to get off and felt very uncomfortable.

‘The defendant then told her he could get her a discount on the clothes she wanted.

‘She walked out and was making her way to the stairs.

‘He then came from behind and grabbed hold of one of her breasts and rubbed his groin against her bottom.

‘She told him to leave her alone and left the store.

‘

The court heard how the customer called police outside the Classic Shoes store in Seven Sisters Road, Seven Sisters, and waited for them to arrive.

She then flagged down the patrol car and officers arrested the salesman.

Zamani-Rad, of Holly Park, Regents Park Road, Finchley, denies indecent assault on July 8 last year.

The trial continues.
