A man accused of sadistically raping and beating

A man accused of sadistically raping and beating
a young woman told a court today (Tues) he was frightened of her.

Richard Chinyoka, 27, thrashed her with a belt, burnt her with a cannabis joint and hit her over the head with an iron until it broke, it is claimed.

He also raped the former public schoolgirl who is the daughter of a leading Bournemouth figure, insisting on sex after the beatings, the jury heard.

But Chinyoka denied all her allegations and said a second woman, who claims he raped her and burnt her with an iron, also lied.

He met the first victim in Bournemouth and she has told the court how he made her family’s life a living hell.

Chinyoka threatened her father and forced her to become a Muslim, the Old Bailey has heard.

He told the court she stole jewellery for him and took credit card details to help the fraud he was carrying out.

‘She did use to get credit card details on a nearly daily basis.

It was extremely easy,’ he said.

‘She wanted to be with me so much that she would not attend work.

A couple of times I had to tell her to go to work,’ he claimed.

He also denied claims he told her which friends she could see and said he wouldn’t have been upset if he left.

Chinyoka claimed if she had left him he would not have been upset.

‘I’m not trying to show off but I did not have a problem with females,’ he told the court.

Asked if she wanted to have sex with him he replied:
‘A lot of times.

She was loving it.

‘

‘I never raped her at all.

‘

He added: ‘There is no way you can force anyone to become a Muslim.

‘I never said to her you have to become a Muslim.

I never tried to control her.

‘All these allegations about me beating her up – I never did it.

‘I used to have fights with her but it never got that serious.

‘

Asked about the incident with the iron he said: ‘She would have been very seriously injured if that occured.

‘

He added: ‘Sometimes I was scared to go home if I had stayed away too long.

‘

Chinyoka also denied raping and attacking a second girl, who claims he burnt with a hot iron after he met her when she was 17.

She claimed he beat her for hours but he said: ‘If I was to punch or kick a defenceless female for an hour thre would be very, very, serious injuries.

‘

Chinyoka, of (102) Brookscroft Road, Walthamstow, east London, denies two charges of raping the first woman between May 1 and June 29, 2000.

He further denies causing her grievous bodily harm between 26 June 2000 and June 29, 2000 and causing her actual bodily harm on April 4, 2000.

He also denies making threats to take revenge against the woman on August 4 last year.

Chinyoka further denies raping the second victim another between August 1 and September 30 2001.

He also pleads not guilty to causing her actual bodily harm on November 19 last year.

He denies a further charge of intimidating the same victim on September 5 this year.

Chinyoka also denies causing the actual bodily harm to a second woman’s relative and threatening to kill him on July 17 last year.

He further denies affray in relation to the same incident.

The trial continues.
