Wood, who has appeared before the tribunal before

Wood, who has appeared before the tribunal before for breaches of accounts rules was struck off after it was found he mislead the mortgage institution.

Burdett was suspended for a year after chairman John Potter said ‘there was no finding which suggests dishonesty.

‘

‘Over a substantial period of time there were what can properly be described as serious breaches of the accounts rules,’ Mr Potter told the two lawyers.

‘They were breaches which allowed employees and clients of this firm to use the firm’s accounts as a bank, breaches which have led to cheques being held back no doubt to improve cash flow.

Mr Potter added: ‘In Mr Wood’s case we have been made aware of another appearance before this tribunal for accounts breaches.

‘We have also found in Mr Wood’s case a allegation proved that he misled a mortgage institution when applying for a mortgage.

‘

Mr Potter ordered that Woods of (3) The Oaks, Walton Park be struck off and ordered to pay costs to be assessed.

The chairman said in Burdett’s case a ‘we are able to impose a lesser penalty.

‘

He ordered the solicitor of (174) Liverpool Road South, Ormskirk be suspended for twelve months and also pay costs to be assessed.
