Alleged knifeman denies Islington murder

An alleged killer accused of stabbing a young father to death outside an ice cream parlour has denied murder.

Reece Williams, 22, is said to have repeatedly knifed Marcel Campbell, 30, in broad daylight on a busy Upper Street in Islington, north London on 21 May this year.

CCTV showed a hooded attacker fleeing past horrified shoppers and families with young children following the attack outside the Udderlicious Ice Cream parlour at around 6.30pm.

Police and paramedics quickly attended but Mr Campbell died at the scene despite efforts to save him.

He was the fourth young man to die in five days as violence ravaged the capital.

Williams appeared at the Old Bailey today (weds) where he pleaded not guilty to a single allegation of murder.

Judge Anthony Leonard QC remanded him in custody ahead of trial at the same court which has been fixed for 12 November.

Williams, of Northdown Street, Islington, north London, denies murder.
