Judge tells migrant smuggling jury to ignore ‘politicians and pundits’

Jurors in the trial of four accused people smugglers have been warned to ignore comments by ‘politicians’ and ‘pundits’ on the anniversary of the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants in a lorry. Irish truck driver Eammon Harrison, 23, and British-Romanian Gheorghe Nica, 43 are accused of killing the non-EU citizens, including two 15-year-old boys and eight women, last 23 October. Christopher Kennedy, 24, and Valentin Calota, are also said to have been part of a global smuggling ring driving truckloads…
