Stabbed to death in sword attack
A teenager was stabbed to death in a sword attack outside his home as he returned from a shopping trip with his friends, a court heard.
Bubacar Jabbie Dukureh, 17, was set upon with blades by a group of five teenagers on Westbury Road, Walthamstow, shortly before 9pm last 23 October.
Alfie Ferguson and Kaiyan Decordova, both 18, as well as two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old who cannot be named due to their age, are charged with his murder.
They appeared at the Old Bailey today (tues) via video-links from custody wearing grey prison clothes.
Police arrived at the scene to find a pool of blood outside the property and followed a trail to the front garden where the victim lay dying, the court heard.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics Bubacar was pronounced dead at 9.57pm.
A post-mortem revealed the cause of death to be a single stab wound to the chest, piercing through his aorta and sternum.
Joel Smith, prosecuting, said: ‘The deceased is Bubacar Jabbie Dukureh who was 17 at the time of his death.
‘He was killed on 23 October 2020 at 9pm in the evening outside his home address in Westbury Road… He was shopping with friends earlier in the day before moving to park area at around half past 8.
‘Police were called to [his] address at about 9 o’clock pool of blood on the street… And followed a blood trail. [They] saw deceased lying in the front garden having been stabbed.’
The prosecutor added the killing was allegedly carried out by ‘five males carrying swords and knives, at least two of whom were on bicycles who attacked him in the street as he went home.’
Judge Nigel Lickley QC told them the case was ‘extremely serious’ and remanded all five defendants into custody.
Ferguson and Decordova, both of Walthamstow, are charged with murder.
Two 17-year-olds also of Walthamstow and a 15-year-old from Leytonstone are also charged with murder.
They will return for a further hearing on 15 June for plea and trial preparation.
