He made £12m from illegal steroids. Will pay back £167k
A businessman who made a fortune smuggling illegal steroids into the UK from India has been ordered to pay back less than a tenth of the £12m he made.
Gurjaipal Dhillon, 66, helped import anabolic steroids and prescription drugs for Danish tycoon Jacob Sporon-Fiedler, 41, and Alexander MacGregor, 52 – the world’s biggest ever suppliers of performance-enhancing drugs.
The pair worked alongside champion bodybuilder Nathan Selcon, 46, hiding medications in a container at his business premises near Heathrow Airport.
The unit, kitted out with ‘hobs’ and specialist equipment for cooking the drugs, was found by National Crime Agency officers in Skyport Drive, Harmondsworth, in March 2014.
It was hidden within a storage facility with a number of top-of-the-range Porsche sports cars, owned by racing enthusiast Macgregor, parked up out front.
MacGregor, Selcon and a third fixer, Mohammed Afzal, 34, were convicted of conspiracy to manufacture class C drugs in 2019.
Gurjaipal Dhillon, 68, was convicted of conspiring to import class C drugs on 5 June 2019 after helping Sporon-Fielder smuggle the steroids into the UK from India.
Dhillon’s total benefit from the crime was put at £11,937,754 at his confiscation hearing but
he only has £167,800 worth of assets available.
This inclused a £25,800 ‘gift’ to his wife and £142,000 following the ‘under sell’ of Dhillon’s previous home in Byford Road, Southall, west London.
Originally purchased by Dhillon in June 2005 for £256,000, he sold it on 4 May 2016 to his wife at the under-priced value of £258,000.
The Crown proposed that the property at the time was at least £400,000 and is marketed on Zoopla at between £559,000 and £618,000.
Dhillon, of Bycroft Road, Southall, must pay back £167,800 in three months or face another five years in jail.
