In court for upskirting – exposed himself on the way home

A man sexually assaulted a woman on the morning he was released on bail for taking upskirt pictures, a court heard.

Almost immediately after leaving court Turk Hassan Degirmenci, 34, sexually assaulted a woman at Knightsbridge Tube station while exposing his genitals on 2 December.

Deputy District Judge Andrew King told Westminster Magistrates’ court ‘He was released on bail and the very same day committed a further sexual offence.

‘He has a history of sexual offences. Looking at the sentencing guideline I appreciate the victim of sexual assault was clothed but, he was partially unclothed.

‘This was committed in the sight and presence of a 12-year-old child. My preliminary view is this court doesn’t have the power to deal with him.

‘This man is dangerous and this is a matter that should be seal elsewhere with a full dangerousness assessment.’

Degirmenci, who was dressed in a grey tracksuit, appeared in court to confirm his name and date of birth.

He was convicted of sex assault and exposure, both on 2 December and recording under a person’s clothing without their consent for his sexual gratification, on 3 June.

Degirmenci was remanded in custody ahead of sentence at Inner London Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
