Biker gunman gets 27 years

Dramatic footage captured the moment a biker shot a rival in the neck to leave him fighting for his life.

Emad Al-Haj Shareef, 22, rode after the victim after threatening him at a motorcycle rally attended by hundreds in Hayes, west London, last summer.

Footage shows him slowing down to take aim before firing at the man who falls into the middle of the road.

He was left with a bullet lodged in his neck but got back onto his feet and staggered along the street as other bikes roar by.

Police officers were called to Hillingdon Hospital in the early hours of 23 August after staff reported a patient had been carried in claiming he had been shot.

Police analysed CCTV footage and traced Shareef to his home in Hounslow, arresting him there on 24 August.

Officers found the gun and a magazine were found in a stolen car.

Shareef had recorded another motorbike gathering in Piccadilly Circus earlier that evening and uploaded a video on Snapchat.

He was convicted of attempted murder and jailed for 27 years at Kingston Crown Court.

Detective Constable Paulina Rosol, who led the investigation, said:

‘This case displays the consequences of gun violence, which can spill out onto our streets.

‘Shareef went as far as to hide the weapon he used in a stolen vehicle, from which officers also seized the jacket he wore during the attack. This jacket was later found to have gunshot residue on it, directly implicating Shareef and shattering his facade of innocence.

‘Last year alone we saw a 75 per cent increase in the number of firearms taken off London’s streets. We will continue to target those who carry them and use violence to threaten+ our communities.’
