Police officer ‘assaulted and strangled woman’
A Met police officer appeared in court charged with repeatedly assaulting and strangling a woman.
Harman Singh, 27, was arrested on 10 January this year after the alleged victim, in her 20s, made a series of allegations against him.
Following a Met investigation Singh was charged with attempted rape, three counts of sexual assault and strangulation in Waltham Forest, east London, on 8 January.
Singh, of Kensington, west London, appeared at Westminster Magistrates court wearing a mustard yellow quarter-zip fleece, chinos and polished shoes.
Defence counsel Victoria Taylor said Singh claims the allegations are fabricated and denies any wrongdoing.
Singh was bailed ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 16 November.
He was a constable in the Met’s North Command unit, but was suspended from duty following his arrest.
