A Bristol University student tried to rape a teena

A Bristol University student tried to rape a teenager when he visited her home on his way to a rave party, a court heard.

Tichaona Mutabeni, 19, was known to the girl and was due to stay at her home in Plaistow, east London when she turned up with a friend, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

The aircraft engineering student, from Bristol University, went upstairs to the toilet while she chatted downstairs with his friend.

She told the court: ‘I went to look for him.

I found him in my bedroom and all of a sudden I heard a snip, snip.

‘I did not know what it was and the second time I heard it I looked down and he had cut his hand open with a pair of scissors between his thumb and index finger.

‘It was bleeding a lot and I told him to go and clean up in the bathroom.

‘I went downstairs again and he came down with a photo of me and him and he had cut out his face from it.

‘We started arguing and I followed him back upstairs as I was worried what else he may have done to my room.

‘

Mutabeni then turned on the petite media studies student, pining her down on her bed, it was alleged.

The smartly dressed girl said: ‘He grabbed my hand and chucked me onto my bed.

‘He pushed the door shut, put himself on top of me and tried to kiss me on my lips.

‘I fell onto the floor and he went behind me, I was on my knees lying bent over the bed.

‘He lifted my nightdress up and then pulled my knickers down to my knees.

‘I heard the clanging of his belt buckle and realised he was taking his trousers off.

‘I was struggling and trying to push him back and he then tried to rape me.

‘He finally pulled my underwear totally off and he began moving himself back and forth against my legs.

‘

The couple were interrupted by Mutabeni’s friend who had been left on his own downstairs.

He knocked on the bedroom door and Mutabeni said he would be down in a minute, the court heard.

Mutabeni then threw the girls knickers at her before leaving with his friend.

The girl reported Mutabeni to the police following the incident on July 6 last year and he was arrested.

When interviewed he denied the allegation and claimed the girl had made up the story after he slept with one of her friends.

Mutabeni, of Horfield Road, Bristol, denies attempted rape and indecent assault.

The trial continues.
