AKORLEY:TEACHER CLEARED OF REPEATEDLY RAPING SCHOOLGIRL

A teacher accused of repeatedly raping a schoolgirl has been cleared after he insisted there was never any sexual contact between them.

History teacher Mohammed Akorley, 43, was said to have started a relationship with the girl when she was just eleven.

She claims to have had an abortion on his instructions after falling pregnant with his child at the age of 14, and to have continued seeing him even after he got married two years later.

The Old Bailey heard Akorley’s alleged victim converted to his faith, Islam, and the pair would have sex in his home and car in southeast London.

But Akorley told the court there had never been any contact between him and the girl, who has suffered from mental problems

‘I did not have any sexual contact with her at all,’ he said.

His barrister Sarah Forshaw said the girls account was ‘riddled with inconsistencies.’

Akorley, of Hengrave Road, Honor Oak, southeast London, was cleared of eight counts of rape and one of indecency with a child by the jury.
