An east London man today (fri) denied the murder of a frail 79-year-old woman during a pathetic mugging for the sake of a few pence.

Wasim Abbass, 15, spoke to answer to his name and then quietly said ‘not guilty’ in answer to the crime that shocked London earlier this year.

Miss Sills was jumped on from behind by the mugger as she hobbled to her home in from the shops using her walking frame on the morning of April 17.

The attack in April evoked public outrage and sympathy as Miss Sills clung to life for two weeks with serious head injuries.
