Baby neglect trial set for next week

A mother accused of neglecting her 18-month-old baby boy will stand trial next week – as a judge voiced his hope that the barristers’ strike might be resolved. Tamika Beaton, 25, allegedly ‘wilfully ill-treated or neglected’ her son Andrew Cawker by continually leaving him in the care of 24-year-old Scott Coombe in the months before he died.
