Charity worker who kept donations for himself is cleared

A charity worker wept in court as he was cleared of fraudulently pocketing cash while collecting donations for Cancer Research UK. Phillip Hartley, 37, was wearing a Cancer Research hat, t-shirt and rattling a collecting tin marked with the charity’s logo when he was arrested in London’s West End in April. Hartley insisted he donated 50 per cent of the cash he collected to charitable causes and said he wanted to cuddle a magistrate after he was cleared of fraud….
