Conmen claimed they had lost their wallets in £5,000 scam

Two conmen who tricked ten victims out of more than £5,000 by pretending to be Irish tourists who had lost their wallets face jail. Patrick Mongan, 24, and James Maughan, 38, each took part in a ‘convincing’ scam where they would spin a hard-luck story to trick kindhearted people into helping them out. They would say they were visiting London but their bank cards had been lost so they could not access cash. Both men would offer to transfer money…
