Consultant cardiologist denies sex attacks on three patients

  A consultant cardiologist today (weds) denied carrying out a series of sex attacks on three patients. Dr Sumit Basu, 59, is charged with seven counts of sexual assault by penetration and three of assault by penetration between September 2011 and June 2014. At the time of the alleged offences, he was working as a consultant at Lewisham Hospital for the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
