Cop in court to face three more rape charges
A Met Police officer accused of being a serial sex attacker appeared in court today (Fri) charged with three more rape offences.
PC David Carrick, 47, is now facing trial for 44 offences against 12 different women, Westminster Magistrates Court heard.
Earlier this week Carrick, who was part of the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command, was charged with three further counts of rape, against a new complainant, between 2008 and 2009.
He is now charged with 21 counts of rape; nine counts of sexual assault: five counts of assault by penetration; three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour; two counts of false imprisonment; two counts of attempted rape; one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration; one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
The first accusation against him was than he raped a woman in a hotel room on 5 September 2020 after a Tinder date.
Carrick, who previously denied 29 of the offences at a plea hearing, appeared in court today (fri) wearing a black suit, white shirt and patterned tie.
He appeared in the dock with four officers and shook his head as he was remanded in custody.
Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring said: ‘Mr Carrick, you are here today because there are three new charges against you.
‘I formally send all three to the crown court sitting at St Albans.’
Carrick was remanded in custody until 27 May when he will appear at St Albans Crown Court.
