Cop is accused serial rapist

A police officer accused of multiple rapes appeared in court charged with nine new charges against four women.

PC David Carrick, 47, was first accused of raping a woman in a hotel room on 5 September 2020 after meeting her on a Tinder date.

Until his arrest, Carrick had been based within the Met Police’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command – the same unit as Sarah Everard’s killer Wayne Couzens.

The Metropolitan Police officer, of Stevenage, Herts, was previously charged with 20 offences against four separate women.

Carrick was charged earlier this week with six charges of rape, one of attempted rape, one of assault by penetration and one of coercive and controlling behaviour, which relate to four women, and are said to have taken place between 2009 and 2018.

He appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today via a video-link from HMP Belmarsh.

Wearing a grey suit, tie and black face mask, Carrick spoke only to confirm his name and date of birth.

He was represented by Patrick Hill, while Natalie Carter appeared on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service.

Senior District judge Paul Goldspring remanded Carrick in custody ahead of a mention hearing at St Albans Crown Court on the 28th January.

Addressing Carrick, the judge said: ‘I formally send all of the charges that you face before the court today to St Albans Crown Court.

‘You will appear there on 28 January.’

In total he is now charged with 29 offences against eight women between 2009 and 2020, including: thirteen counts of rape; five counts of sexual assault; three counts of assault by penetration; three counts of coercive and controlling behaviour; two counts of false imprisonment; one count of attempted rape; one count of attempted sexual assault by penetration; one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
