Eritrean refugee killed retired civil servant

An Eritrean refugee who stabbed a retired civil servant to death in London’s West End will be held in a psychiatric hospital indefinitely, a judge said. Stephen Dempsey, 60, of Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, offered no resistance when Tedi Fanta, 27, attacked him from behind outside the Microsoft store on Oxford Street on 1 July 2021.
