Extradition proceedings dropped against Tory donor

A major Tory donor accused of involvement in a £100m VAT scam in Germany has had extradition proceedings against him dropped. Peter Singh Virdee, 43, was arrested at Heathrow Airport on 10 January by Metropolitan Police officers. German prosecutors had alleged that Virdee was one of the ‘central organisers’ in a VAT scam relating to carbon credit under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.
